Happy happy

Heh this one just screams 'intro theme' or 'town theme'. Pleasant, joyful and peaceful melody. But I'd add harps if I were you. Or that sharp mandolin(?)like string instrument from The Djsou Forest. Or both. Nevertheless this goes on my rpg playlist too, and a five goes to you:)

MaestroRage responds:

A harp eh?! Maybe even Sitar!!?!?! D:

No, Sitar wouldn't do would it? I think a town theme would be a good description for it actually. And that instrument in the Djsou forest was a guitar :D. Though a rather poor quality one I know.

Thanks for the review, i'm glad you liked it!

Perfected perfection

Yeah it's even better, nice effects added and this time you got the volume levels right. Guitar solo at end is sweet too. By the way normally this is absolutely not my style of music but I love this. Flawless.

Glorious

Yeah I always imagined a holy warrior, surrounded by blindning light, fighting in slow motion when I listened to that part of For the last time... And it's even better in this one. Awesome song, as always, but the bell part in the middle didn't quite grab my attention, plus there's some random panning in the first main part which is weird. But you managed a decent quality this time.
P.s.: Perhaps you could use less attack for the temple bells.

madboss responds:

Hy Skragga! I'm glad that you liked my song - well at least most part of it. I thought a peacefull part in the middle would sound good... well maybe I was wrong. The panning you mention is strange. I think you mention the first half where the drums are joining the song. Probably the mastering suite made these changes because I havent even touched the panning knob with my mouse. And thanks the idea about the bells - I'll try it in another song.
Thanks for your review and the ponts!

Mastering failed...

It still rumbles and crackles :/ though not as severely as before. It's pretty good btw, fits the title much better than the demo, truly gets apocalyptic at 0:52. I'm glad you kept the rude brass too :D This is definitely going on my rpg soundtrack playlist, the one which I listen to while playing an mmorpg... and it's full of your songs XD
P.s.:You know what I miss? Organs! Those would have gone well with the melody at 0:52.

MaestroRage responds:

Yeah... the crackling. Damn that crackling! I had in fact talked to DavidOrr and Arbiter about this piece, and they both said it needed mastering work, David even told me how to fix it. Though I did everything he told me, I must not have done it right, or to the right degree. I should have waited a couple days to forget about how the song sounded so that I could listen to it clearer.

Mistakes and more mistakes :(.

I plan on making an extended version of the song. I don't like that ending at all, not angry enough. I'll keep the rude brass, but that part is going to have to get a face lift.

As for organs... it's not a bad idea actually. I just hope I didn't screw my frequency spectrum enough to have to really blast it to hear it!

thank you for the review Skragga! I'm glad you liked it!

Instruments are good...

... but I don't really like that melody. It's a little unnatural, in fact too happy. It would be better if either the third or the fourth sound would be a few notes lower.

DavidKracht responds:

Critical Critesm (or at least i think thats what its called) is always good. Thanks for reviewing.

...

It's screaming for mastering, but otherwise pretty good so far. That daaark ruuude brass at 0:43 caught my attention, what's it called? I hope to hear more of that in the full version! Also it's not apocalyptic enough yet, it needs to get more powerful later on with a title like that. Don't forget the choirs.
I see you're getting along pretty well with your work too :) I've finished my hardcore song, go have a listen if you have time, it's worth it XD

MaestroRage responds:

This demo barely portrays what it is I am going for my good sir :D! There will be a big part with choirs, and bangs, and people going "LEL!" but not really! :O!

As for mastering? This sounds perfect on my speakers and headphones... perhaps you could pm me and let me know exactly what part you felt needed mastering? These big headphones I bought are still something to be used to.

I'll check out yur tune right away :D!

Thank you for the review, i'm glad you liked it!

Relaxin

I see you're getting more original. Interesting melody and style. The way you put claps/snares on every kick reminds me a bit of my ancient All Your Base remix.
Like the guy below said this could be faster. Probably it would make a great hardcore song with 180-200 bpm.

Surprisingly...

...this sounds more professional and less default than Vexeta. Although it could use some stronger kix, and Vexeta's melody is a tad bit better. If there still were effort scores (why the heck did they remove that??) I'd definitely give this a higher effort score than Vexeta.

Enchanting

There is a slight wickedness to the seemingly peaceful melody that suggests the dangers that the dark forest conceals... A lovely, intriguing tune. Finally this song is something different from your other peaceful songs, which are mostly a bit too run-of-the-mill. No offense with that, it's just that they don't quite grab my attention, unlike this one, or Sunset Requiem, and don't even get me started on A Warm Wind In Avalon:)

MaestroRage responds:

No no I fully agree. The other slow song's i've submitted recently arn't really to my liking either. To be honest I was having a somewhat nasty writers block for the past couple weeks, in order to have something for the contest on time, I had to pull out some rather generic and predictable segments.

The majority of this song's vibe comes from LadyArsenic. She was kind enough to let me orchestrate it, expand and play around with it, and just in general learn off it. Her guitar work is quite good, and chord structure quite expressive.

Thank you for the review Skragga, I am glad you enjoyed it! I will put more effort into my slow songs from here on :D

Fancy

I forgot to check out your work for a while, sorry bout that, I'll do it now. This song is typical of you: clean, sweet and unfortunately, short. The first melody is lovely, nice work with the drums too. Perhaps you could have continued it like this: after the current end a no drum all string section, and then bring back the first melody and drums with thunderous strings and brass, and some choirs. That would make it a new favourite of mine, this way I 'merely' love it XD

MaestroRage responds:

I'm glad you decided to drop by again Skragga :D.

I will expand this version, and am currently doing a remake of it with a good friend DarKsidE555 in fact. His electric guitar will reak hell on this song >:}.

I am glad you liked it, I will do my best to make this song your new favorite :D! Thank you for the review!
